Potato beetles are the enemies of any gardener. They attack especially potato and eggplant crops, or pepper and tomato crops. If you want to get rid of these enemies in the garden, without resorting to chemicals, you can trust the hot pepper or the walnut shells. Here’s what you need to do.
Get rid of potato beetles with walnut shells
If you have a walnut in the yard, then you can easily use this method. If you don’t have one, then you can buy walnuts or ask a friend to give you some walnut shells. You don’t need a huge amount. Here’s how to do it.
Put the shells and walnuts leaves in a barrel with water to macerate. Keep in mind that for a pound of leaves and shells, you need 5 liters of water. Let it all to soak for 3-5 days, and then strain the solution and sprinkle the plants with it. You will see how potato beetles will easily disappear.
Get rid of potato beetles with hot pepper
Hot pepper is another reliable ally for gardeners. Prepare an infusion of 15-20 hot peppers. Cut the peppers in 4 and add over 10 liters of water. Let it all to soak for two days, and then add 2 tablespoons of liquid soap over it. Mix well and leave the solution to stand for half a day to soak, and then stain the liquid. With the obtained solution, sprinkle over the plants affected by potato beetles.
TIP: A word from elders says it is better to prevent than to treat. So, to prevent your plants being attacked by potato beetles, plant among potatoes, eggplants, pepper or tomatoes, some horseradish, coriander or marigolds. The last plants are hated by potato beetles and will keep them at a distance.
